'NCIS: Los Angeles' Season 9 Episode 1 Brings Wedding Talks, New Boss Replaces Granger (Spoiler Alert)

Warning: This NCIS LA 9×1 recap contains major spoilers. Read on if that is exactly what you need.
Agent Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) returns to work in “NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 9, Episode 1 (“Party Crashers”). However, Hetty (Linda Hunt) goes missing, supposedly retired and sailing into the sunset. Meanwhile, everyone meets the new boss in Granger’s post.

Kensi And Deeks Wedding

Since Kensi’s (Daniela Ruah) spontaneous proposal to Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) in the Season 8 finale, fans have been waiting for some wedding updates from them. In the new season premiere, they are not choosing venues or gowns just yet.
In the latest episode, Deeks visits his mom to tell her about the upcoming wedding. He learns, to his horror, that she is dating her trainer. Plus one for Momma Deeks, then.

New Boss Is In

The ninth season premiere introduces Nia Long as new cast member, playing the role of Assistant Director Shay Mosley. She replaces Owen Granger, who left the team last season. Miguel Ferrer died in January this year, but his character Granger lives on outside of service.
Mosley does not like many things, says NCIS Special Agent Harley Hidoko (Andrea Bordeaux). The team quickly notices this. G Callen (Chris O’Donnell) is not particularly fond of her, but she at least manages to prove that she is not a villain. At least not yet.

Linda Hunt’s Hetty Leaves NCIS – Really?

Hetty is officially retired, and she has sold many of her properties. The team is unable to believe this, but they have no choice but to wait for answers.
Toward the end of the episode, the viewers learn that Hetty is in Vietnam. She appears to be in an important mission, one that allowed her to skip Customs. Hetty receives information about a former CIA agent, who supposedly survived a plane crash in 1969. This guy “got a taste for killing.”
In the next episodes, Hetty is expected to chase this other crash survivor. It is only a matter of time before Callen, Hanna and the rest of the team get involved. Will Mosley get in their way?
“Party Crashers” was written by R. Scott Gemmill and directed by John P. Kousakis. NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9, Episode 2 (“Assets”) will air on Tuesday, Oct. 8, on CBS.
