Rose Leslie and Theo James Star in Trailer for The Time Traveler’s Wife

It was 2009 when Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams made everyone fall in love with the story of The Time Traveler’s Wife, and now HBO is set to tell the story again, but this time with Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie.

Watch the trailer for HBO’s The Time Traveler’s Wife:

Since the 2009 movie was considered a hit, we should expect that a lot of audiences are already familiar with the story. But just in case you aren’t here’s the synopsis for the 2009 film:

When Henry DeTamble meets Clare Abshire in a Chicago library they both understand that he is a time traveler, but she knows much more about him as he has not yet been to the times and places where they have already met. He falls in love with her, as she has already with him, but his continuing unavoidable absences while time traveling – and then returning with increasing knowledge of their future – makes things ever more difficult for Clare.

For added context, here’s a trailer for the 2009 movie:

We don’t know how much HBO is going to change the story for the series, but it already looks like they’re going to be adding some kind of mockumentary format. With the movie being so popular, it would be great to get a different lens on this love story between Henry and Claire.

Though a lot of fans know Leslie from Game of Thrones, she also had a role in Downton Abbey alongside this show’s time traveller Theo James. James though, only appeared in one episode, whereas Leslie was a series regular.

The series actually looks interesting, and it should get a lot more people excited to actually check out the original book by Audrey Niffenegger.

The Time Traveler’s Wife premieres on HBO Max this coming May 15.
