'Siren' Season 2 Finale 'Leverage' Recap: The Return to Sea

The Siren, her companions, and the humans formulate their plan to get rid of Klesco Oil’s ships. The day finally came for their goodbyes. Now, as Klesco’s stakeholders watch in the oil extracting operation in their fancy evening wear, the mermaids and their human protectors take back Bristol Cove’s oceans.

In the season finale of Siren, the mermaids and the humans retake the oceans from Klesco Oil. After finalizing their goodbyes, humans and mermaids alike nervously accomplish their tasks. Ben Pownall (Alex Roe), Maddie Bishop (Fola Evans-Akingbola), Xander McClure (Ian Verdun), and Clavin Lee (Curtis Lum) pave the way for the mermaids. Meanwhile, Helen Hawkins (Rena Owen) crashes Klesco’s Gala Night. At the boat, Ryn (Eline Powell), Katrina (Aylya Marzolf), Cami (Millan Tezfagi), Viv (Alvina August), Eliza (Georgia Waters), Levi (Sedale Threatt Jr.), and Sarge (Hugo Ateo) await Ben and Maddie’s signal.

Preparations

Ben and Maddie teach the mermaids how to use a blowtorch. Their plan requires one of them to cut Klesco’s oil drill, and the blowtorch was their only means of doing so. Also, Xander and Calvin needed an industrial grade fishing line to pull the tube away from the oil ship. Luckily, Helen’s trust fund from the Pownalls is more than enough to purchase one. Ian Sutton’s (Luc Roderique) strange invitation to Klesco’s Gala came in handy. Thanks to him, Jerry (David Kaye) manages to fake one for Helen.

The humans’ goodbyes were all but similar. Calvin becomes mushy with his girlfriend, Janine (Hannah Levien). Meanwhile, Xander reveals that he knows the truth about Nicole (Natalee Linez) who storms out of the bar. Also, the mermaids say goodbye to Helen’s brother, Rick Marsden (Brendan Fletcher). That evening, Helen gave Sarge a necklace to remind him of her. Perhaps the steamiest and most romantic goodbyes were Ben, Maddie, and Ryn’s, since they have a threesome.

Xander, Calvin, and the mermaids stay on the boat while Ben and Maddie takeout Klesco’s sonic mapping cannons. This part of the plan took quite a while, and the mermaids grew anxious, but Ben and Maddie pull through with it. As soon as the cannons were out, the mermaids dive in, taking the fishing line with them. However, none noticed that all but one plunged in. With the mermaids on their way, Helen has Rick cut Klesco’s satellite to keep them from seeing the mermaids cutting through the drill.

As soon as the mermaids cut through the tube, the line pulls it away. The fishing line gets loose, so Sarge decides to chase after it. However, it slices his neck instead. The mermaids panic and scream as they witness Sarge’s ill fate. As soon as the line disappears, they approach Sarge, still alive but losing blood quickly. The mermaids then proceed to grab onto him together, swimming to safety.

Ben and Maddie make it just in time to watch Klesco’s oil rig run into chaos. Xander and Calvin’s fishing line did its trick as it pulled the tube along with its support, mounted on the ship. However, Cami suddenly appears in the boat’s cabins and starts attacking Xander. In haste, Xander shoots at her using a flare gun, igniting the cabin. Xander and Calvin try their best to extinguish the flames but to no avail. By the time Ben receives Xander’s text, the fire reaches the boat’s engines, causing an explosion.

‘Siren’ Season 2 Finale ‘Leverage’ Final Verdict

Ben, Maddie, and Ryn’s threesome finally happens, and the show portrays it romantically. Also, the sabotage sequence brought much excitement to the episode. Cami’s sudden appearance in Xander’s cabin was unexpected and perhaps was necessary. Having the season end with the viewers wondering about the characters’ fates is a good trick, and the show has used it well.
