The Force Re-awakens in the Newest 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Trailer

The wait for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” further intensifies. Following the official trailer drop last month, a new short teaser for the movie is released. It’s packed with new footage and gives answers to the misleading scenes the previous trailer showed diehard fans.
Last month’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” trailer teased confusion any more than it teased what’s to come. There was a scene where it’s implied that Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) will blast General Leia Organa’s (Carrie Fisher) ship and a scene where a supposed “team-up” between Kylo and Rey (Daisy Ridley) occurs. Although these can all be dismissed as misleading and confusing, one couldn’t help but overthink it.
The latest trailer, though, says otherwise.

The same dialogue is used in the teaser. But in the midst of all the hype surrounding “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” the newest teaser, aptly titled “Awake,” gives us some answers to all the questions we’ve all been having. Among the new footage included is a shot of Luke exploring the Millennium Falcon (seemingly baffled at how nostalgic it looks like), Supreme Leader Snoke’s throne room (which gives off some Palpatine feels right there), and Rey wielding Luke’s blue lightsaber.
But probably the most interesting detail of the new trailer is how the shot used where Rey talks about “finding her place” is now placed right after Luke is shown mourning over the destruction of the Jedi Temple. It could only mean that there is no Kylo Rey (see what we did there?), nor will it ever exist. Ever. We also see who Luke is talking to when he says “this is not going to go the way you think,” and it’s (surprise!) actually Rey and not Leia.
But hey, at least we know that there’s no one crossing over to the Dark Side this time—for now.
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” hits theaters December 15, 2017.
