'The Flash' Season 4, Episode 6 'When Harry Met Harry' Recap: Superheroes Night In The Museum [SPOILERS]

The last thing you’d see “The Flash” fighting is a dinosaur. Well, in the latest episode, titled “When Harry met Harry,” Team Flash faces off with a metahuman who can bring inanimate objects to life. Meanwhile, Henry (Tom Cavanagh) recruits some of his “friends” to help them find Devoe. He asks Cisco (Carlos Valdes) to help him summon his friends, who turned out to be different versions of Henry. The Team still has a few more metahumans to catch and at least one of them didn’t turn out evil. Barry takes Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) under his wing and teaches him how to be a superhero.

‘The Flash’ and His New Elastic Rookie

The villain of the week is Mina Chayton (Chelsea Kurtz), an activist trying to reclaim Sioux artifacts from museums and private collectors. But she’s not asking them to return it to the Native Americans they stole it from. Instead, she turns statues alive to help her out. Barry recruits the help of Ralph at the same time helping Ralph become a superhero. Unlike The Flash, the elongated metahuman isn’t exactly superhero material. Ralph’s first superhero lesson didn’t go as smoothly as Barry hoped for.

Ralph’s recklessness almost cost the life of a little girl. When Mina was getting away, Ralph tried to catch her. But as he was snagging the getaway car, he entangled himself in a falling power line. It resulted in a little girl having to be rushed to the hospital. Thankfully she wasn’t gravely injured. Barry sees this as an opportunity to teach Ralph the lessons he had to learn to be The Flash. It’s not always about getting the bad guys, it’s about saving the people. If his reckless behavior almost cost a life, what more a city?
This resonates with him when they had to face Mina again. The last artifact is found in a museum filled with statues. Their confrontation with her turns comedic when she animates a T-Rex. Ralph battles the T-Rex statue saving the night guard, who found himself in a “Night In The Museum” situation. Barry was able to capture Mina and teach Ralph a valuable lesson. It made Barry proud when Ralph returned some of the artifacts and visited the little girl in the hospital.

The Council of Wells

Everyone in Team Flash was surprised when Harry told them he can help find out who Devoe is with his friends. Harry didn’t return to his version of Earth because he didn’t get along with his team. The news delights Cisco because he has been trying to convince Harry to socialize and make friends. But Cisco’s delight was cut short when he found out what Harry really meant by friends. Harry asked Cisco to help him summon the Council of Wells because there’s no one smarter than Harry than himself. Tom Cavanagh is truly a versatile actor and quite the comedian. “The Flash” has been going for a lighter and comedic route, so they decided on silly characters—we have a brilliant and class version of Harry who criticizes everything. One who slightly resembles Matthew McConaughey and his surfer dude persona. There’s also a half-robot version who casually munches on roadkill. Lastly, Harry the wizard or more like Cavanagh doing his best Gandalf impression.
At some point during the episode, you feel like you’re watching a skit from “Saturday Night Live.” Harry’s story arc also provides some insight of who he is. He realizes he doesn’t like working with himself. The Council of Wells has a hard time agreeing on anything as they just insult each other instead of finding out who Devoe is. Cisco points out he is every version of himself. If he doesn’t enjoy being around himself, then no one would enjoy being around him too. This helps the Council of Wells learn to work with one another.  In the end, they find out where and who Devoe is.

The Thinker is Devoe

After battling an activist with good intentions. Harry and Cisco tell Team Flash about Clifford Devoe. The man who might be behind the summoning of metahumans. Instead of asking for backup, Team Flash decides to confront Devoe themselves. It looks as if this episode will end with an epic fight build up. As they prepare to face off with Devoe. It’s quite obvious to the viewers Devoe and The Thinker are the same person, especially when they cut to a scene of The Mechanic warning The Thinker that the Flash is coming for him.
Instead of meeting the Thinker, Joe and Barry are surprised to find Devoe living in a suburban house. They were greeted by The Mechanic, minus her white suit and sinister look. Joe asks if they can meet with Clifford Devoe. The Mechanic surely knows how to play the devoted housewife because the concern on her face looks so real. She then calls Clifford, who shocks Barry when he finds him in a wheelchair. But Team Flash has to know by now, there’s more to it than meets the eye.
“The Flash” continues next Tuesday with “Therefore I Am” at 8/9c on The CW.
