The Idol Series Allegedly Thrust Into Chaos Because of The Weeknd and Euphoria Creator

Before he can get started working on Euphoria 3, Sam Levinson has been working on a series called The Idol starring Lily-Rose Depp and Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye. The series has been teased for a while, but still doesn’t have a solid release date, and word has come out that it’s because of Levinson himself.

According to Rolling Stone, several members from the production of The Idol have claimed that Levinson and Tesfaye have been creating a chaotic set for the series, which has resulted in a massive delay and frustrated crew members.

The whole issue had apparently started to get sour when director Amy Seimetz left the project after having shot 80% of the series; and when Levinson took over for the shoot, he was said to have scrapped nearly everything that Seimetz had worked on to start again from zero.

Sources have claimed that production days would start with lines constantly being rewritten, and even when Seimetz was working on the show, several scripts had been unfinished. Take note, Levinson was also accused of doing the same thing for Euphoria, apparently coming to set with no solid shot list or plan.

From what started out to be a sharp commentary on fame and Hollywood culture, sources have said that the series has devolved into a ‘toxic male fantasy’ where Lily-Rose Depp’s character freely submits to the cult leader character played by The Weeknd. What’s kind of sad is that, Tesfaye was said to have demanded the scripts be changed since it was ‘heading too much into a ‘female perspective’’.

For now, The Idol still has no release date, but a lot of outrage is already coming online for Levinson and Tesfaye. We don’t know what HBO Max is going to do about it, but several crew members have said that Euphoria has become hard to watch, especially after they realized how difficult it was to work with its creator.
