Thor: Ragnarok SDCC Trailer: A Talking Hulk Steals The Spotlight

“Thor: Ragnarok” is beginning to look like one of this fall’s best movies, as evidenced by what Marvel Studios dropped during their panel at the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. In the trailer, Thor starts out with a monologue saying that he’s been on a journey towards self-discovery. He is seen reunited with Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) AKA Hulk, who noticeably vanished after the events of “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” The two form a team that will go against Hela (Cate Blanchett)—the goddess of death—as she tries to destroy and put an end to Asgard, an event known as the ‘Ragnarok.’

The preview also features the gladiator fight between Thor and Hulk, along with new footage for fans to feast their eyes on. The gladiator duel was extended, along with some shots of Ruffalo simply being Bruce Banner and the Hulk talking in complete sentence—sort of. It’s a moment we rarely see Hulk do, especially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So he’s smarter than what we used to think after all!

New Thor: Ragnarok Trailer Gives Emphasis On Supporting Characters

There are also a few new materials for the supporting cast. Hela’s outfit transformation is shown, with Skurge (Karl Urban) nearby. Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) is also given the spotlight, as she is shown working closely with Thor and Hulk. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) appears as one of Thor’s allies, proving how the Asgardian brothers can still work out through their differences for a common goal: saving their home world. Hulk’s pal Korg is shown, along with a shot of Fenris Wolf going head to head with him, and one brief shot where Hulk is leaping towards Surtur, one of Odin and Thor’s biggest foes.

Directed by Taika Waitit (What We Do In The Shadows), “Thor: Ragnarok” has been building up stunningly thanks to the impressive marketing and the notable change of tone. There’s more humor and quirky characters are now involved. And besides, seeing Thor and Hulk in space ready to go against Hela is definitely an interesting sight to behold.

“Thor: Ragnarok” hits theaters November 3rd. Watch the trailer below:
