Chloe Grace Moretz is a New Kind of Hero in Teaser for Nimona

It may be a while before Arcane’s Violet returns for a second season, but Netflix has another pink-haired protagonist set to arrive in the upcoming animated Nimona. The film is set to premiere in June, and Netflix just dropped our first teaser.

Check this out:

The movie synopsis reads:

A Knight is framed for a crime he didn’t commit and the only person who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona, a shape-shifting teen who might also be a monster he’s sworn to kill. Set in a techno-medieval world unlike anything animation has tackled before, this is a story about the labels we assign to people and the shapeshifter who refuses to be defined by anyone.

Chloe Grace Moretz will be providing the voice of Nimona with Riz Ahmed voicing the knight Sir Ballister. Other members of the voice cast include Frances Conroy, Indya Moore, RuPaul, and Lorraine Toussaint.

The movie was originally a project from Blue Sky Studios which brought us the Ice Age films, Rio, and Spies in Disguise. Disney had shut down the studio which ended up cancelling the movie, but Annapurna Pictures had decided to revive the project back in 2022. It’s also worth noting that the film is based on a comic of the same name by ND Stevenson.

With a release date set for June, hopefully we get a fuller trailer soon that showcases more of the animation. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long.

Nimona is set to premiere on Netflix this coming June 30.
