Sweet Tooth Confirmed for 3rd and Final Season

The tricky thing about starting a show with child actors is that the cast has a tendency to grow up, but it looks like Sweet Tooth had that in mind when they were shooting the second season.

As it turns out, they actually shot the second and third season back-to-back, and it was announced by showrunner Jim Mickle that the series would be ending with Sweet Tooth 3. Here’s the announcement:

With a cast largely made out of children, a lot of fans were wondering if the show was going to pull a Stranger Things and make us watch the literal maturing of each actor through the years. With the series kind of having a theme about children vs. adults, I think it was necessary for production to wrap things up before everyone hit puberty.

Hopefully it all pays off in the end.

The synopsis for Season 2 of Sweet Tooth reads:

“As a deadly new wave of the Sick bears down, Gus (Christian Convery) and a band of fellow hybrids are held prisoner by General Abbot (Neil Sandilands) and the Last Men. Looking to consolidate power by finding a cure, Abbot uses the children as fodder for the experiments of captive Dr. Aditya Singh (Adeel Akhtar), who’s racing to save his infected wife Rani (Aliza Vellani). To protect his friends, Gus agrees to help Dr. Singh, beginning a dark journey into his origins and his mother Birdie’s (Amy Seimetz) role in the events leading up to The Great Crumble.”

No release date has been announced for Sweet Tooth Season 3 yet, but you can catch the first two seasons now streaming on Netflix.
