GRIMM: 5 Things to Know About the Season 5 Premiere

Could Grimm have left fans with any more of a cliffhanger last season?

From the sudden and violent death of Nick's mother Kelly, to the also sudden and violent death of Bitsie Tulloch's Juliette -- a series regular from the very first episode -- last season's finale served up a series of shocks that kept fans talking over the long hiatus.

Is Juliette really dead? What revenge path is Nick on this season? And where will former nemesis Adalind and her new baby fit into Nick's life now, if at all?

The show returns in typically timely fashion on October 30 (just in time for Halloween) with "The Grimm Identity," an episode which will pick up on those dangling threads and pull the show in a new direction this year.

We've seen the first couple of episodes a little early, thanks to our friends at NBC, and have a series of teasers to share with you on what's to come.

If you’re a regular reader of these types of articles here at ScreenSpy, then you’ll know we do our best to avoid spoiling major developments and plot lines that might otherwise ruin your enjoyment of the episode (we want you to enjoy it as much as we did).

For that reason, we consider the following carefully structured and worded points to be teasers rather than outright spoilers.

However, as always, we urge you to be cautious, as one man’s teaser is another man’s spoiler.

Here then are 5 things you might like to know about Grimm's Season 5 premiere "The Grimm Identity."

Fake out … Sorta

Did you see that sneak peek clip that circulated around the web a week or so ago? Juliette’s funeral? Distraught onlookers? A final kiss goodbye? Yeah. It didn’t happen.

No, the video is not a fake, but the funeral scene is taken deliberately out of context. What you’re looking at is the fevered dream/hallucination of Nick Burkhardt, who, while these events are happening, is lying on the floor of his living room, drugged and incapacitated.

You should also know that the scene has been clipped so that some of the more disturbing and surreal elements are missing.

Check out the moment in its entirety on Friday. It’s creepy as hell.

Wait? Does this mean there’s some possibility that Juliette could still be alive/resurrected/transformed/returned?

Anything is possible, but it’s so hard to know, now that Juliette’s body has gone missing …
