House of the Dragon Wraps; New Poster Released

HBO Max is gearing up for the release of their Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon, and though we have no idea when a new trailer will drop, author George R.R. Martin himself has confirmed that the cameras have finished rolling, and that he’s pretty pleased with what he’s seen.

Posting on his personal blog, Martin shared a new poster for House of the Dragon:

But most importantly, he’s confirmed:

Exciting news out of London — I am informed that shooting has WRAPPED for the first season of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON.

Yes, all ten episodes.   I have seen rough cuts of a few of them, and I’m loving them.  Of course, a lot more work needs to be done.   Special effects, color timing, score, all the post production work.

But the writing, the directing, the acting all look terrific.   I hope you will like them as much as I do.   My hat is off to Ryan [J. Condal] and Miguel [Sapochnik] and their team, and to our amazing cast.

While fans thought that they could get a release sometime later this year, the announcement of the wrap could mean that we would have to wait longer, maybe into 2023; after all, this series is expected to have heavy CGI—unlike the earlier seasons of Game of Thrones where dragons are just conveniently offscreen.

Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long. Fingers crossed we get a new trailer sometime in March. For now, fans wait for the release of House of the Dragon on HBO Max.
