New Andor Featurette Takes Inside Look at First 3 Episodes
Published 1 year ago
It was pretty odd that Disney+ would premiere Andor with the first three episodes, but if you watch the whole thing, you’ll know why—it completes Cassian’s call-to-adventure when he jumps into the ship with Luthen Rael.
Now Disney+ has released a new featurette featuring Diego Luna and series creator Tony Gilroy as they break down the first three episodes and what this could mean for the series moving forward. Watch this:
Gilroy explains, “This very extreme moment in history, the Empire is consolidating its power. Corporate planets are being nationalized. At the same time, the Rebellion is just popping up everywhere in all kinds of iterations.”
We also get some context as to the role of Luthen Rael, who is kind of the ‘Nick Fury’ of the series in that he’s being described as the glue that will bring together the fractured Rebellion. I have to say, after his turn as Baron Harkonnen in Dune, it’s pretty neat to watch Stellan Skarsgard be a rebel leader for once.
So far, Andor has been receiving sparkling reviews, and not for the same reason Kenobi was getting praises a few months earlier. There is a clear shift in tone and storytelling, and it’s kind of refreshing to have a show that wants to feel original and fresh, rather than previous series that kind of depend on your nostalgia for The Clone Wars or other series.
Here’s to hoping that Andor continues to soar throughout its run.
Watch out for new episodes of Andor on Disney+ every Wednesday.
