Skeleton Crew: Jude Law to Star in Star Wars Series from Spider-Man Director

Spider-Man director Jon Watts was set to work on Fantastic Four, but he had walked away from the project to work on something else. While we thought that he was going to work on something more artsy or personal, it turns out, he found another project over at Lucasfilm.

As announced at SW Celebration, Jon Watts—alongside Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Christopher Ford—will be producing a new original series called Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. We don’t have that much info on the series yet, but we do know that it will be starring Captain Marvel and Fantastic Beasts star Jude Law.

During Watts’ panel at Celebration (via Space.com), he revealed that the show will actually focus on a group of kids who are adrift in the Star Wars galaxy trying to make their way back home. We don’t know who Law could play in the series, but I can imagine him to be some kind of villain—which would be a fun turn after playing the part of Dumbledore.

Watts describes Skeleton Crew: “It stars four kids, but it is not a kid’s show.”

With Watts and co-producer Ford having made Spider-Man: Homecoming, we should expect Skeleton Crew to be a fun coming-of-age series set in the world of Star Wars. Personally, I would love it if they return to the Age of Resistance and have this story based on some Force-sensitive kids, but maybe I’m getting ahead of myself.

Until we get some more reveals, all we can do is wait and speculate.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is set to hit Disney+ sometime in 2023.
