SUPERGIRL Returns With Flying Monkeys and a Dose of Real Family Drama

Supergirl's first post-hiatus episode really has it all -- giant robot dinosaurs, flying monkeys, family drama, and a gratuitous amount of karaoke.

"Schott Through the Heart," is, as you may have guessed from the title, a Winn-centric episode, and the April 16 installment will see Winn struggling under the long shadow cast by his father, Winslow Schott Sr., aka Toyman, following his unexpected death in prison.

Matters are complicated by the sudden appearance of Winn's mother Mary (guest star Laurie Metcalf), who arrives in town with an outrageous story about her 20 year absence from her son's life. To boot, Mary claims that Winn is still in danger from Toyman, even now.

Meanwhile, as Alex gets closer to Myr'nn (guest star Carl Lumbly) she uncovers a heartbreaking secret that could devastate his and J'onn's relationship.

We've seen the episode a little early, thanks to our friends at the CW, and have compiled a number of short teasers for you below. As always, we avoid spoilers, as well as plot-point and character reveals that might ruin your enjoyment of the live episode. However, as one girl's gentle teaser is another's great big flaming spoiler, we urge you to proceed with a teeny bit of caution anyway. If you'd like to know more about our spoiler policy you can find details through the link in this sentence.

Sing!

The first five minutes of “Schott Through the Heart” are truly delightful.

We definitely don’t want to spoil these fun and light-hearted scenes with too much detail, so suffice it to say there’s Karaoke involved and everybody sings!

Is it just us, or do the individual song titles speak volumes about these characters’ states of mind?

“Karaoke,” as Myr’nn observes, “requires courage or a complete lack of shame.”

Prepare your ears for plenty of shame courage.
