The Empire Rises in Latest Trailer for The Bad Batch Season 2

Lucasfilm and Disney+ may be riding on their live-action shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi now, but they haven’t forgotten the animation fans. Star Wars Celebration came with a lot of great reveals, and we now have a new trailer for the second season of The Bad Batch.

We don’t have an official synopsis with the video, but you can bet that the series will continue to tell the story of Clone Force 99 as they fight their way through the transition of the Republic to the Empire.

Like with every animated Star Wars series, we have the return of several things from the official canon—as well as the expanded material. Besides the return of one Emperor Palpatine, we also have the appearance of the Clone Commandos from the game Star Wars: Republic Commando.

Since the clones are also nowhere to be found when the Empire is up and running in A New Hope, we should expect to watch them to be phased out by the Empire in the series. There have been several ways the transition has been handled in the Legends material, and I think they would be getting in on it closely with The Bad Batch, seeing as the series’ main focus is a gang of unique clone troopers.

It’s unclear where Lucasfilm wants to take The Bad Batch, but seeing as we’re in the OT timeline, we have a good idea of where they could be going. Fingers crossed they’re still running around by the time of the Sequel Trilogy—whenever we return to that timeline.

The Bad Batch returns to Disney+ this fall.
