The Jedi are Outlawed in First Teaser for Obi-Wan Kenobi

Well, this was rather unexpected. Though we usually get hyped for trailer drops, it feels like the Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer just happened to be released without warning. Either way, it gives us our first look at an older Obi-Wan (or rather Ben) played by Ewan McGregor, and the Sith Inquisitors who will be going after him.

The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The series stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

Though we get a good look at Kenobi and the other Inqusitors, there are still some other cast members that we haven’t seen like Kumail Nanjiani, O’Shea Jackson Jr., or Benny Safdie. Odds are one of them is going to be playing the droid we see in the teaser, but it would be great if they can play characters where we can actually see their faces.

With The Book of Boba Fett ending up a tad lackluster, I’m hoping that director Deborah Chow has something else in store for the Kenobi series. Though I am still expecting a lot of fanservice, I’m hoping we have some relevant character moments as well. Am I the only one relieved Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni aren’t credited in the making of the series?
