10 Things to Know About Once Upon a Time's Season 4 Premiere

Unless you’ve been living under a rock with Grand Pabbie and the other trolls, then you’ll know Once Upon a Time is making a return to our screens on Sept 28.

What’s more, the show has taken on a decidedly chilly theme as it pursues a Disney Frozen storyline, among other plotlines, this season.

What can fans expect from this new direction? How much screen time is Anna and Queen Elsa’s story likely to get? What about the Robin/Marian/Regina storyline, that Rumbelle Honeyooon and the state of Captain Swan?

Having screened the premiere episode “A Tale of Two Sisters” a little earlier than most, we’re in a position to answer some of your most pressing questions.

While we can’t be persuaded to plant outright spoilers on you (we wouldn’t want to ruin your viewing experience) we can certainly point you in several interesting directions in perparation for the big premiere event.

Here then are 10 things you might like to know about Once Upon a Time’s season 4 premiere:

1. Message in a Bottle

Ever wondered what happened to Anna and Elsa’s parents in those final moments while shipwrecked at sea? Well look no further than the premiere’s grand opening scene. There’s a double tragedy here with repercussions that will be felt in Storybrooke, or should we say Mist Haven years later.

2. Find the Writer

If you thought season 4 was going to be all about Regina feeling weepy over Robin and his “awfully vanilla” wife Marian, then think again. This Evil Regal bounces right back in true form with a couple of dastardly plots for ‘removing’ the obstacle in her way to true love. While events soon persuade Regina to alter her original plan, we can’t wait to see where, and to whom, her new one takes us.

3. Mirror Mirror

The Best line of the night goes to Regina for “Mirror Mirror on the wall, show me who I want to kill most of all.” Welcome back Sidney. So that’s where you’ve been hiding!

4. Captain Swan

Yes, there is a kiss. Satisfied? Hook’s not. The thing is, Emma is feeling too much guilt over reuniting Robin and Marian to enjoy being loved up. Hurry up and sort of Regina’s love life, stat! The fans are waiting!

5. A Rumbelle Honeymoon

Belle has found the perfect place for a romantic post nuptials getaway, but it appears the previous owner of this particular property had some interesting hobbies. Will Mr Gold be tempted back to dark magic by what he uncovers here?

6. Magic Moments

It seems everyone’s busting a magic move in Storybrooke these days. Look out for displays from Gold, Regina, Elsa and even Emma.

7. If you Build it, He will Come … Alive

Remember Elsa’s giant Golem from Frozen? Now imagine that thing rampaging down the main street of Storybrooke to the sound of “Evil snowman! Run!”

8. The Weight of a Promise

Post wedding, Gold is a changed man. His beautiful graveside speech to lost son Neal may even bring a tear to your eye. (shut up! I’ve got an eyelash!) Gold’s so bent on being worthy of Belle that he even ditches a close personal item of his. But history shows us Gold has a bad track record with his promises…

9. Let it Go …

There’s a classic Disney song featured in the premiere episode. And it’s not from Frozen.

10. The Frozen Cast

In addition to Anna, Elsa and Kristoff, you can expect to see Sven (there’s a worrying moment for Elsa when she wonders if the Reindeer has been appointed best man at Anna’s wedding) and the John Rhys-Davies-voiced Troll, Grand Pabbie, in addition to the aforementioned Golem. It’s a veritable Frozen family reunion!

A Little More. Change Your Fate

Can you change your fate? If the answer is yes then surely Elsa has a thing or two to tell Regina on that subject? There are matching themes involving perceptions, choices and love for both characters in the premiere … yet curiously they don’t share any screen time. We’d love to see Elsa and Regina trade words at some point down the line.

Once Upon a Time Season 4 premieres Sunday September 28 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network
