Willow Series Gets a Fantastical New Trailer

Ron Howard may not be working on a sequel to Solo: A Star Wars Story, but Lucasfilm did pick up a series based on his fantasy movie Willow. The series is set to premiere later this year, and we have a new trailer to showcase the returning Willow (Warwick Davis) and his new set of friends.

Watch this:

The official synopsis reads:

An unlikely group of heroes sets off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.

We don’t really have that much specifics on the story, but the synopsis does read like the original movie, with a group of unlikely friends coming together on a magical quest.

Admittedly, Willow never did get as popular as Star Wars or Indiana Jones, but the movie has been considered a cult classic, and there is some interesting lore which brings the world to life. While the VFX of the original were admittedly sub-par next to Star Wars, it does look like the series has received a visual upgrade, and we get to see Willow deal with a lot more magic than the original movie.

For now, the fantasy genre is being dominated by Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and House of the Dragon, so it was pretty wise of Disney to have this series come out in November. Hopefully by that time, LOTR and HOTD would have ended their runs, and Willow will be in the only fantasy IP to check out.

Catch Willow when it premieres on Disney+ on Nov. 30
