Zendaya Ups Her Euphoria Contract to Earn $1 Million per Episode

Euphoria may not be a perfect show, but it’s definitely one of the biggest things on HBO Max, and a lot of fans can’t wait for the next season. With Zendaya becoming a huge star outside of the series though, she’s opted to raise her salary from the series to a Friends-level upgrade.

As per Puck (via GQ), Zendaya has now re-negotiated a deal with HBO to earn $1 million an episode of Euphoria. We don’t know if this means she could get a larger role in the series, but her character of Rue is just one of several threads that make the entirety of the show, and she had a pretty extensive arc in the last season.

Some say that her raise could also be a result of her Emmy win in 2020 for Oustanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series; plus her own executive producer status. Let’s also not forget she’s in two major blockbuster franchises with Dune and the Spider-Man films with Tom Holland.

While this raise could be good news for Zendaya, some fans are wondering if her cast mates are receiving the same treatment. Sydney Sweeney had opened up about how she had to work several jobs to make ends meet despite the success of Euphoria; and Barbie Ferreria, who had a reduced role in Season 2, had announced that she was leaving the show last year.

For all the drama that goes on in the series, I hope that they managed to work out all the issues that were reportedly plaguing the production; particularly with series creator Sam Levinson.

Euphoria 3 has no release date yet, but you can catch the first two seasons now streaming on HBO Max.
