Amber Heard's Role in Aquaman 2 Allegedly Reduced

Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard’s legal case has been all the buzz on the internet for the past few weeks, and though we know that issues with Heard had caused Depp to lose his Fantastic Beasts job, Heard has revealed that her career has also been affected—specifically with the upcoming Aquaman sequel.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Heard testified that her role in Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom had been reduced dramatically following her case with Depp. She explained:

“I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving any spoiler aways, two characters fighting with one another, and they basically took a bunch out of my role… They just removed a bunch out.”

Since we haven’t even gotten as much as a trailer for the film, it’s hard to say what kind of role Heard’s Mera was going to have with the story, but with the character having very close ties to Aquaman—who could be staying for a couple more years—WB better figure out what to do with character (and Heard) pretty soon.

For now, it looks like Heard is still going to be in the film, unlike Depp who was completely replaced with Mads Mikkelsen. We don’t know how this entire case with Depp and Heard is going to do down, but it looks like the internet has already chosen a side.

Aquama and The Lost Kingdom is set to hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
