Awkwafina Joins Kung Fu Panda 4

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish had teased a return to the world of Shrek, but before that, Dreamworks is set to start work on another one of their most successful properties, Kung Fu Panda. We know that the franchise can’t be without Jack Black as Po, but a new cast member has allegedly joined Black in the film.
According to The Hollywood Handle, the Last Dragon herself Awkwafina has joined the voice cast of Kung Fu Panda 4. We don’t know how she’s playing yet, but her signature raspy voice is always welcome in any film; she’s also voicing Scuttle in the upcoming Little Mermaid remake.
As far as the story goes, here’s the alleged plot for Kung Fu Panda 4:
Po is gearing up to become the spiritual leader of his Valley of Peace, but also needs someone to take his place as Dragon Warrior. As such, he will train a new kung fu practitioner for the spot and will encounter a villain called the Chameleon who conjures villains from the past.
While I can imagine that Awkwafina could be Po’s disciple in the movie and the next dragon warrior, I think she could also make a great Chameleon-like villain. I wonder if they’ll be able to bring back some of the VAs from the past films though, because I would love to see Lord Shen the Peacock again.
Kung Fu Panda 4 is expected to release in theaters on March 8, 2024. Watch out for Awkwafina in The Little Mermaid which comes to cinemas on May 26.
