‘Annabelle Comes Home’ Rakes In $3.5 Million from Early Screenings at The Box Office

New Line’s latest film in the Conjuring universe, Annabelle Comes Home collected a solid $3.5 million in Tuesday night previews, according to Box Office Mojo. The supernatural thriller movie starring the evil spirited doll is the third Annabelle movie and seventh entry in the Conjuring franchise. Annabelle Comes Home’s earnings make it one of the top-grossing movies of the Conjuring universe, surpassing both Conjuring previews that respectively earned $3.3 million and $3.4 million on their preview nights. Annabelle Comes Home is projected to earn about $30 million-$35 million over the five-day opening. Gary Dauberman, the screenwriter for the Annabelle films, made his directorial debut on the film. Annabelle Comes Home plays in 3,525 theatres today.

Annabelle Comes Home Performance So Far

The Annabelle franchise starts off with its previous entry’s Annabelle (2014) that made $2.1 million and Annabelle: Creation (2017) that made $4 million during its Thursday night previews. Annabelle Comes Home’s figure also surpasses the following films in terms of preview night—Curse of La Llorona’s Thursday preview ($2.8 million), First Purge’s Tuesday preview ($3.6 million), and Purge 3: Election Year ($3.6 million).

Annabelle Come Home follows paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine safely locking up the evil doll in their artifacts room, but when the babysitter unknowingly awakens the evil spirit in Annabelle, their night turns into something else. Annabelle and her evil spirits then prey on the souls of Judy and her babysitters. The movie stars Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Mckenna Grace, Madison Iseman, and Katie Sarife.

Annabelle Comes Home Competition

Going into the weekend, Annabelle Comes Home has some serious competition. Among the other film, releases are Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 4, which started off with a good-enough $188 million on its opening week has now generated $258 Million worldwide. The film that played in 4,575 theatres was named the highest opening in the film’s franchise and stands as the fourth highest for an animated film. Along with Annabelle Comes Home, the film will be going head to head with the release of Universal and Working Title’s Yesterday, a musical romance starring Himesh Patel, Lily James, Ed Sheeran, and Kate McKinnon. Analysts believe that Yesterday will make between $10 million- $14 million during the weekend. In addition, Avengers: Endgame will be showing a re-release, featuring extra footage (a deleted scene) to the massive Marvel hit.
