Deadpool 3: Ryan Reynolds Reveals How He Convinced Hugh Jackman to Come Back for Wolverine

Hugh Jackman had ended his run as Wolverine back in 2017 with highly acclaimed Logan, and though it felt like a definitive end for the character, Jackman is somehow coming back to reprise the role in Deadpool 3.
Talking to ET Canada, Ryan Reynolds was asked about how he convinced Jackman to sign on, and he explains:
“What we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.”
We don’t really know how Jackman’s Wolverine will be different, but I think this means that the Wolverine he’ll be playing won’t be the one we’ve been following in the X-movies, and isn’t the one that died in Logan.
Fingers crossed that the Deadpool franchise is crazy enough that we can finally have Jackman in the yellow spandex suit like Wolverine from the 90s.
While a lot of fans are excited for Jackman to return to the character, I am hoping that Marvel is preparing to hire someone else when they introduce the MCU’s version of the X-Men. I just think the character is pretty great, and though Jackman is also good, I don’t see him signing on to do ten more years of Wolverine. Hopefully we get someone more comic-accurate; meaning a short, hairy Wolverine.
Deadpool 3 is set to come out in theaters on Nov. 8, 2024.
