Discover the Birth of the Modern Cooking Show with New Trailer for Julia

2021 saw the release of Julia, a documentary which told the story of television icon Julia Child, and now HBO Max has released a trailer for their series biopic which tells the story of Child and how she paved the way for women and America’s modern way of looking at cuisine.

Watch this:

The official synopsis reads:

Julia is inspired by Julia Child’s extraordinary life and her long-running television series, “The French Chef,” which pioneered the modern cooking show. Through Julia’s life and her joie de vivre, the series explores a pivotal time in American history – the emergence of public television as a new social institution, feminism and the women’s movement, the nature of celebrity and America’s cultural evolution. At its heart, the series is a portrait of a loving marriage with a shifting power dynamic.

The story of Julia Child is admittedly a very interesting one, and there are many other ways for people to find out about her story. Besides her cooking show, The French Chef, there is also the 2009 movie Julie & Julia which has Meryl Streep playing the part of Child.

For something more recent, you can also check out the 2021 documentary that’s also titled Julia:

It’s interesting that we should get a look at all these old television icons. Even though they aren’t onscreen anymore, they have been essential in paving the way for modern entertainment. We got Fred Rogers with Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and now we have Julia Child with Julia.

Julia starts streaming on HBO Max on March 31.
