Discover the Shady Origins of Male Stripping in Trailer for Welcome to Chippendales

After Pam & Tommy, Hulu is set to bring us another series that will tell the bonkers true story of the rise of male stripping.

Welcome to Chippendales premieres this November, and we have a new trailer starring Kumail Nanjiani, Murray Bartlett, Annaleigh Ashford, and Juliette Lewis. Watch this:

Here’s the series description:

A sprawling true-crime saga, WELCOME TO CHIPPENDALES tells the outrageous story of Somen “Steve” Banerjee (Nanjiani), an Indian immigrant who became the unlikely founder of the world’s greatest male-stripping empire—and let nothing stand in his way in the process.

If you do your research on Steve Banerjee, you’ll find out that the story does not end well; but the fact that the story is interlaced with the mainstream rise of male stripping is pretty wild. And you’d think that Magic Mike got too serious at times.

I think that Nanjiani is a wonderful talent, but he’s mostly been known for his comedy work with shows like Silicon Valley; even his Eternals character Kingo is more of comic relief. From time to time though, Nanjiani does take on more serious roles like with The Big Sick and his episode of The Twilight Zone. While I’m sure that Chippendales still has the opportunity for laughs, I think that the story is eventually going to take a dark turn, and I can’t wait to see Nanjiani really go for it when the series premieres.

Welcome to Chippendales premieres on Hulu this Nov. 22.
