Ronny Chieng is Kublai Khan in Hilarious Clip from History of the World Part II

Mel Brooks’ History of the World Part I has been a cult classic ever since it came out in the 80s, and Hulu had recently launched the revival with the star-studded History of the World Part II. The complete season is now streaming on their platform, and we have a new clip that gives us a good idea of what kind of humor to expect from the show.
Here’s the scene where Marco Polo (Jakes Johnson) meets Kublai Khan (Ronny Chieng):
I don’t know if Kublai Khan did prank Marco Polo about being killed, but the two were said to have been good friends, with Polo having acted as Khan’s emissary for several years, travelling to Southeast Asia. It was even said that Khan had refused to let Polo come back to Europe because he had enjoyed his company too much and has become rather useful to the empire.
If you haven’t checked out History of the World, they’re usually comedic takes on actual historical events; and the original film had brought in some guest actors to take on the roles of historic icons. While it’s not a movie, Part II still managed to nab some top-tier comedy talent, and hopefully we get some sequels sooner rather than in another 30 years.
Here’s the series description:
After waiting over 40 years there is finally a sequel to the seminal Mel Brooks film, HISTORY OF THE WORLD, PART I, with each episode featuring a variety of sketches that take us through different periods of human history.
Catch History of the World Part II now streaming on Hulu.
