New 'Flashpoint' Movie Directors Still in Negotiations with Warner Bros.

Ezra Miller’s Flash will undoubtedly be back on screen for the DC Extended Universe’s “Flashpoint” movie. Last month, it was announced that “Spider-Man: Homecoming” scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were undergoing talks to direct the upcoming Flash movie. A month later, it looks like negotiations are still ongoing.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Daley and Goldstein both said that there’s still much to work on with “Flashpoint,” as the deal for them to helm the movie is being finalized. “We’re still negotiating. Deals are in the works right now,” Daley said during the premiere of his comedy film, “Game Night.”

Goldstein, on the other hand, said that the deal has to be perfect for the film to have a definitive start. “It’s all about parking spots,” Goldstein joked. “If you give in then you’re all the way out by craft services. You want a better spot than that.” The soon-to-be-directors also revealed that there is no script for the movie yet because the deal has to be signed before any work is made. “Hopefully,” Daley said, “it will work out.”

The ‘Flashpoint’ comic book backstory

In the comics, “Flashpoint” follows Barry Allen as he travels back in time to save his mother from dying. Because of this, the repercussions made to the present day were blown to crazy proportions—Thomas Wayne is the Batman (with Bruce Wayne the one shot in the dark alley), Wonder Woman and the Amazonians are locked in a battle for supremacy against Aquaman and the Atlanteans, and the whole world is shaken to its core.

Superman is also revealed to be held in a secure facility following his crash on Earth from his home planet of Krypton—never fully realizing his potential as the Man of Steel. Together with Thomas’ Batman, Barry has to find out a way to bring things back to normal, even with the cost of having his mother die again. “Flashpoint” was adapted into an animated movie back in 2013 and titled “Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.”
It’s unclear if the DCEU “Flashpoint” movie will follow the same premise, but many fans are already considering this film as a soft reboot of the chaotic DC big-screen universe.
“Flashpoint” is slated for a 2020 release.
