'It: Chapter Two' Adds James McAvoy and Bill Hader to the Adult Losers' Club

The fight with “It” isn’t over just yet. If you’ve read the Stephen King book, then you already know that when Bill Denbrough and his ragtag group—The Losers’ Club—grow up, they’d have to return to their hometown of Derry, Maine to end Pennywise’s evil reign of terror. Enter “It: Chapter Two,” the continuation of Andy Muschietti’s hit horror flick of 2017.

After Jessica Chastain was confirmed to play the adult Beverly Marsh, a role that previously belonged to Sophia Lillis as the kid version, it was only a matter of time before we get to see the boys get their grown-up counterparts. Now, the group is slowly becoming complete. James McAvoy of the X-Men franchise and Bill Hader of the “Star Wars” universe are now in talks to join Chastain for “It: Chapter Two.”

What happens in ‘It: Chapter Two’?

According to Variety, McAvoy will play the older Bill Denbrough (played by Jaden Lieberher) while Hader will bring his comedic skills into the character of the loudmouth Richie Tozier (played by Finn Wolfhard).

The first “It” movie showed how the Losers’ Club successfully fought the evil clown-alien-demon through overcoming their fear and the overwhelming strength of their friendship. In the book, the story doesn’t stop there. The second part of the novel shows the Club, now adults, living the high life in their dream jobs. But when Pennywise’s threat resurfaces, Mike Hanlon reminds his childhood friends about the promise they made to return to Derry and put an end to Pennywise. Soon enough, the entire Losers’ Club reunites, except for Stan Uris, who committed suicide upon hearing about Pennywise’s return.

With McAvoy and Hader joining the cast for “It: Chapter Two,” one can only imagine the greater horrors that the Losers’ Club will face. The first “It” movie featured challenges and scares that were in itself hard for the kids to handle, so who knows what Pennywise has up his sleeve to fight against them.

“It: Chapter Two” also stars Bill Skarsgård (reprising his role as Pennywise) and is slated for release on September 6, 2019. Filming will begin this summer.
