In case you haven’t heard, The Blacklist is about to celebrate 100 hours of TV.
“I’m beside myself,” said an upbeat Megan Boone, speaking to press from The Blacklist set in New York, back in November, where cast and crew were celebrating day one of the 100th episode shoot.
“I really don’t know what to think. We’ve made 100 hours of television. How many people can say that?”
The show’s 100th episode, “Abraham Stern,” airs January 17, and will see Red (James Spader) going on the hunt for a legendary treasure. However his actions soon draw the attention of Abraham Stern (guest star Nathan Lane), a cunning manipulator who has devoted his life – and the lives of many innocents – to recovering the fortune that is his birthright.
Meanwhile, Liz’s quest sends her down a dark path, leading her to study the methods of one of the Blacklist’s most dangerous criminals.
The episode is a personal one for Spader who explained, “My old friend Andrew McCarty is directing the episode which is nice, and Nathan Lane, another old friend of mine, is playing the Blacklister in the episode, so I’m very excited about that.”
As for word of a sixth season? “We’re very pleased that Sony and NBC have extended all this time to us, and we hope that they will continue,” was Spader’s sober response.
The Blacklist returned last week with a bloody Liz-centric outing, and ratings of 6.02 million viewers, a figure that almost rivalled those of the season premiere in September.
