'Jurrasic World 3' Reveals New Title As Shooting Begins

Humanity or Dino-kind? The ending of 2018’s Jurrasic World: Fallen Kingdom has set the dino-kind loose to the world. And if that wasn’t a terrifying enough thought, the new title to the new film hints that humanity might have to fight with everything its got to keep its place at the top of the food chain.

Jurrasic World 3 director Colin Trevorrow has taken to Twitter on Tuesday to reveal that the third and final installment to his sequel trilogy has begun principal shooting. Through the photo, he also slyly unveiled the official title of the new film will be Jurrasic World: Dominion. Star Chris Pratt reposted the picture to his Instagram leaving a definition of the word dominion in the captions. “1. sovereignty or control. man’s attempt to establish dominion over nature.'” And at the end, he left quite a warning saying, “Hold onto your butts.”

As it may, the actor might not be wrong. Aside from returning characters from the recent films, Jurrasic World 3 is also bringing back beloved characters from all over the Jurrasic Park trilogy. This includes Laura Dern, Sam Neil, Jeff Goldblum, Alan Grant, and Ian Malcolm. Joining them are Jake Jackson, Omar Sy, Justice Smith, Danielle Pineda, and Isabella Sermon. Newcomers to the team are Altered Carbon star Dichen Lachman and Sorry For Your Loss ‘ Mamoudou Athie.

Fiver years after bringing back the Jurassic Park franchise, Colin Trevorrow is back in the director’s chair for this final film. He also penned the script together with Pacific Rim: Uprising scriptwriter Emily Carmichael from they story by Derek Connolly. The pair also wrote the short film Battle at Big Rock together which gave a hint of what is to be expected in this new film.

Although plot details are tightly being kept under wraps, Trevorrow has given enough hints here and there to keep the audience buzzing. In an interview with EW after the release of Fallen Kingdom in 2018, the director said that Jurrasic World 3 will be focused on storytelling with dinosaurs all over the world. “We really wanted this technology, this genetic power, to go open-source at the end of the film,” Trevorrow said. “What we’re suggesting is not just that these specific animals that we care about that were in captivity were freed, but also that the ability to create these animals has gone a little bit wider than our friend Dr. Wu. The open-sourcing of any technology, like nuclear power, that’s the scary side for me.”

In an interview with Ellen, while promoting his latest film Onward, Pratt compared Jurassic World 3 to Endgame. “Maybe I just blew it, but I don’t care. All the cast from the original Jurassic Park is coming back. It’s going to feel very much like how Endgame brought everything together for Marvel,” he said. “It’s a massive movie, it’s a big movie. We’ll be all over the world. The story is really, really engaging, really cool. It’s gonna be big.”

Jurrasic World: Dominion is set to hit theatres on June 11, 2021.
