Lady Gaga in Talks to Star as Harley Quinn in (Musical) Joker Sequel

Lots of questions were raised about the Joker solo film when it was announced, and after the film made a splash in the box office, fans were unsure if a sequel would work. Now we have some even crazier news about Joker: Folie a deux, and it includes one of the most accomplished musican-turned-actresses today.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Lady Gaga (House of Gucci) is now in talks to star in the upcoming Joker sequel opposite Joaquin Phoenix. While details of her character are under wraps, it’s said that she will be playing the part of Harley Quinn, Joker’s psychologist who falls in love with him and turns into his sidekick.

Gaga isn’t even the biggest news about the sequel as well. It’s also said that Folie a deux is going to be a musical. We know that the original film had music at the very heart of it, but it’s unclear if this sequel will have some original song-and-dance numbers. With Gaga onboard though, I think it would be a waste not to have her do any musical sequences.

I actually love how unpredictable this movie is turning out to be. It’s like someone announced that Taxi Driver was going to get a musical sequel. It doesn’t seem to make sense in context with the first movie, but with Todd Phillips and Phoenix moving forward, I think they have something pretty special in their hands.

No release date has been announced for Joker: Folie a deux.
