Learn the Way of Water in Latest Trailer for Avatar 2

With the first movie coming out in 2009, some people can forget that James Cameron’s Avatar was one hell of a spectacle in film, and it looks like they want to up the ante for the coming sequel this December.

Just in, we have a new trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water, and it shows off all the amazing visuals from the underwater world to the look of the water-dwelling tribes of Pandora. Watch this:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Though earlier trailers have given us very general looks at the movie, this latest trailer seems to properly focus on Jake and Neytiri’s kids. We don’t know what happens specifically, but it seems that Jake and his family will be driven out of their home, and they will be forced to live among the water people—making Jake’s children the newbies who don’t know much about their world—much like Jake’s arc in the first movie.

Though they were driven out by the end of the first movie, the humans are now back to wage war on Pandora. We don’t know exactly how they managed to return, but this probably means that Jake and the other tribes will have to band together again and make sure this takeover can’t happen in the future anymore.

Avatar: The Way of Water comes to cinemas on Dec. 16.
