Man Of Steel 2: Warner Bros. Reportedly Eyeing New Potential Director

DC has finally decided to push through with the sequel of  Superman’s origin story, as well as the search for its new director. In line with Warner Bros. plans for the DC Extended Universe for the next five years, it looks like Man of Steel 2 is still in the picture. Who wouldn’t want a new Superman movie right? The first Man of Steel came out in 2013 with Zack Snyder helming the film, and fans were introduced to Henry Cavill’s darker take on Clark Kent. It was the first film in the DC Extended Universe.

Man Of Steel 2, Eyeing On new director

Warner Bros is looking to Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn to take on the role according to Collider. Back when Man of Steel was in talks to be produced, Vaughn had been among the list of directors for the film. The director also gave Warner Bros. a pitch for Superman when it was in development.

“That sort of all got blown out of proportion. I had a very brief chat with them and that’s all it was. From a 30-second chat, it’s become this huge thing,” Vaughn said. “It hadn’t gone [as far as casting], we just had an idea for a story for Superman — that was it.”

But now it looks like Vaughn is about to take the limelight. After handling X-Men: First Class and Kingsman: The Secret Service, Vaughn is undergoing preliminary conversations with Warner Bros. for the position. There hasn’t been any deals yet, but it’s clear that Vaughn is in the studio’s prospective directors for the film.

Man Of Steel 2, Superman

One notable distinction of Snyder’s Man of Steel is it’s dark tone. While many sort of agreed with what Snyder’s take was on Superman, hardcore fans still criticized it’s lack of “hope” and the overall drabness of it. After all, Superman is a symbol of hope, and a lot of fans are hoping for a brighter and friendlier tone in the future. And the good thing about this? Vaughn is all for this idea.

In a previous interview with MTV News, he hoped that Snyder would not go along the path that Nolan took with the Batman trilogy. Vaughn went on saying, “I think that’s the one thing not to do with Superman, trying to do the serious ‘The Dark Knight’ version. Superman is about color and fun, or it should be, for me.”

In the meantime, fans have about a couple of months to eagerly wait for Superman’s return when Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
