Marvel's Blade Reboot Casts Aaron Pierre from Old

It’s been a while since Mahershala Ali was announced for the Blade movie, and now it looks like the film has found someone else to join the cast.

As per Deadline, Aaron Pierre (Old, Krypton) has been cast in Marvel’s Blade. No details have been revealed about his role, but I could definitely see him as another vampire alongside Ali’s Eric Cross Brooks. Besides Pierre, Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods) has also been cast in the film.

So far, no plot details have been revealed for the Blade reboot, but we do have a tease of Ali’s Blade talking to Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman by the end of Eternals. Some suspect that Harington will also be making an appearance in the Blade movie, but so far, he hasn’t been announced as part of the main cast.

The first Blade movie came out in 1998 and starred Wesley Snipes as the titular vampire hunter. If anything, that movie is a perfect example of the ‘cool edginess’ of the late 90s, with Blade sporting sunglasses and a black trench coat.

In the comics, Blade originally wore a green jacket and sported an afro, but since the movies came out, the trench coat and shades have become essential to the character’s look. While I do think that they would go the same direction for the reboot, I am hoping for a completely original look—maybe one closer to the original appearance in the comics. If not, I would love an homage—kind of like Netflix’s Luke Cage series finding a way to put Luke in the yellow shirt and tiara.

No release date has been set for Marvel Studios’ Blade.
