Netflix Celebrates 30 Years of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers with Reunion Special

The Power Rangers movie may not have been able to be the franchise reboot that was expected back in 2017, but a lot of fans still love the original Mighty Morphin series which is set to celebrate its 30th Anniversary this year.

Now Netflix has dropped a first look at the special Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, and it has cast members from the original series returning. Check this out:

While the series wasn’t able to gather all of the original Rangers for the reunion, we do have David Yost (Blue Ranger) and Walter Emanuel Jones (Black Ranger) who helped launch the franchise back in the 90s. Their costars will be Catherine Sutherland, who was the second Pink Ranger, and Steve Cardenas who was the second Red Ranger.

Some fans are still hoping for the appearance of other cast members, but we can never expect a full reunion. Thuy Trang, who played the original Yellow Ranger in the series had passed away due to a car accident back in 2001. Last year, we also lost Green Ranger actor Jason David Frank to suicide.

Seeing that this is a celebration of the original show, I’m hopeful that Netflix finds a way to call back to the original members who won’t be appearing. At least they’re bringing in a character named Minh, who is said to be the daughter of the Yellow Ranger, but I doubt she’s going to be suiting up or anything.

Catch Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always when it premieres on Netflix on April 19.
