Rumors have suggested that the Joker sequel Folie a Deux will be taking place entirely in Arkham Asylum, but new set photos and videos have come out of Joaquin Phoenix and there are—multiple Jokers???

We don’t know what the full context of the scene is, but it looks like we’re going to have Arthur being chased (again), but this time, he’ll be chased by Joker look-alikes/fans.
The first Joker movie had Arthur unwittingly embracing his ‘hero of the people’ status by the end of the movie, but he still ends up locked in Arkham. If I were to guess, Arthur gets ‘cured’ and is released from the asylum, but he can’t escape the people he’s influenced as the Joker.
Of course, fans are wondering where Harley Quinn factors into all of this, and it’s been suggested that her origin could be changed for the movie. My guess is they would meet in Arkham, but they would have a continuing relationship when Joker gets out; and with a mob of people dubbing the Joker as their leader, it’s likely he would end up being the Clown Prince of Crime just because of circumstance.
I’m still betting the final movie in this series of films is going to be Joker going up against Batman. Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke is probably one of the most celebrated stories in comics, and having that be the end of Arthur could be a fitting close to these films. At least, that’s my pitch.
Catch Joker: Folie a Deux when it releases in theaters Oct. 4, 2024.
