Next Predator Movie Allegedly Going to Feudal Japan

The Predator franchise had tried something different by bringing the trophy-collecting movie monster to 1700s America. We don’t know where the franchise goes next, but it looks like we could be getting a bunch of films with the predator taking on ancient warriors.

According to Giant Freaking Robot, the next movie in the Predator franchise is said to be going to Feudal Japan, meaning we could be getting some samurai and ninja assassins going up against another ancient predator.

As of now, no official announcement has been made about the Prey sequel, but it does feel like a natural progression of the new direction. We’ve had years of the predator just taking on soldier after soldier, but having them take on warriors from different points in history feels like an interesting draw.

I guess I’m just disappointed that we won’t get Amber Midthunder returning if they decide to take the story to Japan. Who knows, maybe they can do another Predators (2010) kind of storyline where they took several ‘warriors’ and put them in a playing field for the Predators to take down themselves.

Disney was admittedly playing it safe when they had Prey release exclusively on Hulu, but with the positive buzz the movie was able to generate, maybe they’re confident enough to go back to cinemas with their new concept. Honestly I just love watching something on a big screen with a crowd as excited as myself.

For now, you can catch Prey now streaming on Hulu.
