Percy Jackson and the Olympians Teaser Brings Us to Camp Half-Blood
Published 1 year ago
Though Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief had Percy and friends go on a cross-country adventure, he does spend a lot of time in the demi-god haven of Camp Half-Blood. Thanks to D23, we have a new teaser for the Percy Jackson series, and it brings us to the fictional camp full of would-be heroes.
While there are a lot of similarities with the Camp Half-Blood we see in the films, we do get something different in the form of the camp bunkers where the kids sleep. In the books, each demi-god kid was assigned a bunker based on who their god-parent was. Percy’s bunk was part of the ‘Big Three’ which consisted of Poseidon, Zeus, and Hades—and since Poseidon barely had any children with mortals, Percy was alone in the bunker.
If Harry Potter had Hogwarts, Percy had Camp Half-Blood, and I can’t wait to see more of this demi-god training that the kids would have to undergo. While the kids pretty much make the camp what it is, we also have to note that it’s being run by a very reluctant Dionysus, who has been assigned to watch the camp as some kind of punishment. In the series, he’ll be played by the ever-kooky Jason Mantzoukas (Big Mouth, Brooklyn Nine-Nine).
Hopefully we get a better look at Percy Jackson and the Olympians soon, seeing as the series is aiming for a premiere sometime in 2023. Then again, we could be looking at an official launch by 2024, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
