Reboot Trailer has Washed-Up Actors Reprising Classic Roles

From Will and Grace to Saved by the Bell, we’ve been getting a lot of reboot/revivals of classic sitcoms. Now with Hulu’s Reboot, we get to have a show-within-a-show that deals with that exact same premise.
Check this out:
A dysfunctional cast is forced back together and must deal with their unresolved issues in today’s fast-changing world.
As you can see, the series has managed to gather quite the star-studded cast. Besides Judy Greer and Keegan-Michael Key, the show has actually managed to nab Jackass star Johnny Knoxville. They also got Paul Reiser to play the original creator of Step Right Up—the fictional sitcom that Reboot is about.
Of course, there are also the behind-the-scenes characters like Rachel Bloom who conceived the idea of the reboot. I think the character of Krista Marie Yu is also hilarious in that she’s a stand-in for executives who don’t really understand the comedy writing process.
The series sounds pretty meta, and I’m excited to see what kind of harsh commentary they have on the industry, especially when it comes to the apparent trend of reboot/sequels. Besides the cast, the series also has another feather in its cap with show creator Steven Levitan, who had co-created one of the more celebrated sitcoms today—Modern Family. I guess you can say that the characters in Reboot are their own kind of dysfunctional bunch, but it’s going to be interesting to watch how they relate years after the prime of their show.
Reboot starts streaming on Hulu this Sept. 20.
