Robert Rodriguez's Superhero Film 'We Can Be Heroes' Completes Cast

Alita: Battle Angel and Spy Kids director Robert Rodriguez’ new project We Can Be Heroes on Netflix is now moving on with production as if completes its star-studded cast. Deadline reports that the new cast additions include Mr. Robot’s Christian Slater, The Purge’s YaYa Gosselin, Captain Marvel’s Akira Akbar, and Narcos’ Pedro Pascal.

We Can Be Heroes follows the story of the children of Earth’s superheroes. After alien invaders kidnap their parents, it is left up to the children to team up and learn to work together to save their parents and the world. Aside from that, no further details have been revealed. Although, the vibe is leaning more towards Rodriguez’ work on Spy Kids and even Alita. Production has already begun in Texas.

We Can Be Heroes Loads Up on Star Power

Previously, Deadline reported that Quantico star Priyanka Chopra-Jones has come aboard to star on Rodriguez’ new film. She has just come off from her rom-com Isn’t It Romantic with Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth, and Adam DeVine. And she will be next seen in The Sky is Pink, a film based on the motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary, which she will also be co-producing.

In addition to Chopra-Jones, We Can Be Heroes also features a boatload of other actors. This includes Andrew Diaz, Andy Walken, Boyd Holbrook, Hala Finley, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Lotus Blossom, Lyon Daniels, Nathan Blair, and Sung Kang. Other cast members are Vivien Lyra Blair, Adriana Barraza, Brittany Perry-Russell, Christopher McDonald, J. Quinton Johnson, Hailey Reinhart, and Dylan Henry Lau.

As for Rodriguez, he had just wrapped up on his collaboration with James Cameron on Alita. Though the film wasn’t a big hit domestically, the international returns more than made up for it. International sales count at over $319 million totaling to worldwide sales of around $404 million. He is also keeping the Spy Kids franchise very much alive with an upcoming third season on his Netflix animated series Spy Kids: Mission Critical. Rodriguez was also responsible for other pics starring kids like The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. On the darker side, more mature side, Rodriguez also directed the Sin City as well as its follow-up Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. In addition to all that, he also worked on The Chuey Martinez Show, El Rey Nation, and UglyDolls. He also has Machete Kills in Space in the works which doesn’t have a release date yet.
