Ryan Gosling Wants to be MCU’s Ghost Rider

Rumors were flying around yesterday that Ryan Gosling was in talks for a Marvel role, and while everyone was guessing he was going to play Richard Rider a.k.a. Nova, Gosling has another character in mind.

Talking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Empire), Gosling shut down the Nova rumors, but he did say that he was interested in playing the MCU’s Ghost Rider. He didn’t say which Ghost Rider he wanted to play, but a lot of people think he would be a spot on Johnny Blaze.

So far, the closest thing the MCU has to a Ghost Rider is Robbie Reyes who was played by Gabriel Luna in Agents of SHIELD. With AOS, being debunked from the main MCU canon, there’s a lot of room for a new Ghost Rider to appear in the MCU, but seeing that Anson Mount was able to reprise Black Bolt in Doctor Strange 2, there could be a chance for Luna to reprise the role—or maybe even Nicolas Cage.

For now, Gosling has proven to be a solid actor, and he would be a great addition to the MCU. With his role in Drive, I’m sure there will be some who will want to see him speeding down streets in a flaming motorcycle. Then again, there has been a longer fan demand for Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) to play the part of Johnny Blaze.

We don’t know who Marvel will eventually cast, but I think either Gosling or Reedus would be a fine choice.

For now, the current Marvel film in theaters is Thor: Love and Thunder.
