Stranger Things 4 Gets a Batch of New Stills

Probably one of the biggest shows on Netflix is Stranger Things, and the fourth season is ready to debut with its first part this coming May. Though May is still pretty far off, we have some new still featuring some familiar and new faces from Hawkins.

These come courtesy of Netflix’s official site, Tudum.com:

While Eleven and the Byers family drove away from Hawkins in the last season, it looks like the kids will still find themselves reunited in some of the photos. We don’t know exactly what happens, but it also seems that Joyce and Murray will be finding Hopper with the snow-covered background behind them.

Talking to Netflix’s podcast Present Company With Kirsta Smith, Ross Duffer describes how they approached this season as showrunners. He explains:

“When we pitched it to Netflix all those years ago, we pitched it as the kids are…The Goonies in E.T… That’s their storyline. And the adults are in Jaws and Close Encounters and then the teens are in Nightmare on Elm Street or Halloween. But, this year, we don’t have the kids. We can’t do The Goonies anymore. And so, suddenly, we’re leaning much harder into that horror movie territory that we love. It was fun to make that change.”

We don’t know exactly what’s in store for this next season of Stranger Things, but it’s going to be cool to see what the Duffers will be paying homage to. While some fans call the series derivative, I think it’s great that the Duffers have been able to draw inspiration from classic films without the show feeling stale.

Vol. 1 of Stranger Things Season 4 comes to Netflix on May 27.
