The Future is Krang in First 4 Minutes of the Rise of the TMNT Movie

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie is set to come out on Netflix this month, and the story promises to introduce us to Rise’s version of classic character, Casey Jones. The movie premieres by the end of this week, and we have a new clip giving us the first four minutes of the film.
The clip has us jumping forward to 2044 with Casey, Leo, and Mikey being the remaining members of the resistance against the Krang. Though the scene is pretty short, it’s great to see the Turtles with their powers evolved. We also get some solid backstory for Casey Jones.
I have to say, Rise has been really wild when it comes to their take on the Turtles, and I’m loving what they’re doing with Casey’s origin. I mean, his vigilante shtick works by itself, but turning him into a ‘Kyle Reese’ from the future who worked with the older Turtles feels like such a fascinating take on the character. I guess I just wish we got to see future Raph and Don as well.
Here’s the official synopsis for the film:
Traveling from the future, Casey Jones has one mission: find the key that stops the Krang to save the world! But he’ll need the cowabunga crew’s help in this epically awesome adventure based on the “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” series.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie comes to Netflix on Aug. 5.
