Watch First 7 Minutes of Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham

It’s going to be a while before we get to see multiple Batmen in The Flash, but DC is set to visit a different version of the Dark Knight with the animated Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham.

Just in, WB Animation has released a 7-minute preview for the movie, and it brings us into this alternate Gotham that was originally conceived by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. Check this out:

Here’s the official synopsis:

This chilling and bizarre DC Elseworlds story is a mash-up of the world of Batman and the cosmic-horror fiction of H.P. Lovecraft, creator of the Cthulhu mythos. Returning from a decade-long voyage of discovery, Bruce Wayne returns to Gotham City, where his parents fell victim to the knife of a madman 20 years earlier. On his journey, Bruce has taken on an international trio of orphaned street kids – whom Batman fans will recognize as various iterations of Robin. During a deadly Arctic encounter, the Penguin informs Bruce that a doomsday cult is planning Gotham’s destruction. Bruce must now return home and take on the mantle of Batman. But when this man of science discovers he faces not criminals and crazies but actual ancient magic, fiery demons and interdimensional Old Gods, can he retain his sanity?

Other characters we should expect in the film include Harvey Dent/Two-Face, Poison Ivy, and Mister Freeze. Though he isn’t a Batman villain, we should also be seeing DC’s version of the Demon Etrigan.

Though the DC films have been having trouble keeping a consistent canon, the animated movies have been having a ball just adapting whatever popular comic they can from crossovers like Flashpoint to Elseworld properties like Superman: Red Son. Doom That Came to Gotham is definitely one of the more unique takes on Batman, and it’s definitely worth checking out for any fan.

Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham is now available on digiyal and Blu-Ray, 4K UHD.
