X-Men: Glen Powell Addresses Rumors about Him Being the New Cyclops

With Glen Powell starring in one of the highest-grossing movies of all time with Top Gun: Maverick,  there has been a rumor going around that the Hangman is going to be leading Marvel’s next version of the X-Men.

Talking to Variety, Powell himself has addressed the rumors going around about him being the new Scott Summers. He says:

Before Comic-Con, everybody was like, “Dude, are you Cyclops?” No, I’m not. Nobody has called me. I don’t even have one contact info for Marvel, so I have no idea what people are talking about.

If anything, Powell does seem like a good fit for the role of Cyclops, and it would be great to watch him actually be a leader since he was kind of a pseudo-villain to Miles Teller in Top Gun 2. At 33-years-old though, I would imagine that Marvel would want to cast someone younger for the part.

A lot of fans have always considered X-Men to be kind of an allegory to the LGBTQ+ community and puberty, so I think it would be great if we got a team of teenage kids to actually be the core X-Men group (with some outliers like Wolverine and Beast). I guess X-Men: Evolution has always been a great example with some team members still attending high school while others having been working with Professor X for a while.

It’s just a pitch.

Marvel is yet to announce a release for the next X-Men movie.
