Angourie Rice and Gaten Matarazzo Star in Trailer for Honor Society

Movies about over-achieving honor students are always fun to watch—especially when they always resort to desperate measures to get what they want. Now Paramount+ has dropped a trailer for Honor Society starring Spider-Man’s Angourie Rice as well as Stranger Things’ Gaten Matrazzo.
Check it out:
Here’s the official description:
Honor (Rice) is an ambitious high school senior whose sole focus is getting into an Ivy League college…assuming she can first score the coveted recommendation from her guidance counselor, Mr. Calvin. Willing to do whatever it takes, Honor concocts a Machiavellian-like plan to take down her top three student competitors, until things take a turn when she unexpectedly falls for her biggest competition, Michael (Matarazzo).
The film has found some amazing leads with Rice and Matarazzo, and it looks like the series will be using them to their full potential. While Rice has always been an impressive child actor with roles in The Nice Guys and Spider-Man, the movie looks to be leaning in on Matarazzo’s Broadway background and will actually have him musically inclined in the film.
While it certainly doesn’t look as raunchy as Booksmart or Election, I think this’ll be a good coming-of-age movie in the same lines as To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, another Awesomeness Films property. Or maybe it could be closer to PEN15? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see until the movie comes out.
Honor Society streams on Paramount+ this July 29.
