Blonde: New Trailer Wants to Delve Into Marilyn Monroe’s Troubled Life

There have been multiple attempts to tell Marilyn Monroe’s story behind-the-scenes, and the latest biopic has Ana de Armas starring as pop-culture’s favorite blonde icon.

Just in, we have a new trailer for Blonde, and it really leans into Monroe’s troubled life behind-the-scenes. Watch this:

Here’s the official description:

From director Andrew Dominik, and based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, ‘Blonde’ boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood’s most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, ‘Blonde’ blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves.

Officially, Monroe died of suicide by overdose when she was 36-years-old, but there are several conspiracy theories surrounding her death—one of the most popular has president John F. Kennedy having her murdered because Monroe threatened to reveal that the two were having an affair.

Since Blonde isn’t so mum about the story being fictionalized, I guess we shouldn’t be so worried about historical accuracy when it comes to Blonde. With recent biopics like I, Tonya being so open about not sticking to the complete truth, I think this approach frees up Dominik to tell a story that will feel more authentic to Monroe’s image.

At least, that’s my guess.

Catch Blonde when it comes to Netflix on Sept. 28.
