Darkness Rises in Comic-Con Trailer for Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

The weekend was filled with so many great reveals thanks to the San Diego Comic-Con, and though we just recently got a trailer for LOTR: The Rings of Power, SDCC 2022 gave us a whole new trailer filled with all the big moments that all the previous teasers seemed to be lacking on.

Watch this:

We know that Sauron is supposed to be the big bad of this show, and we finally got a look at him played by Anson Boon. We don’t exactly know how much Boon will appear in his elven form, but Sauron probably has this darker version of himself that he presents in front of the orcs. He is a shapeshifter after all.

And though we’ve seen the dwarves and the thriving city of Dwarrowdelf, Fellowship of the Ring has confirmed that the city will fall after the dwarves awaken the Balrog—which we see right at the end of the preview. While I still expect Moria to fall in the hands of Durin’s Bane, I think the show would do right to actually have us stay in the city for a longer while and watch how the rings brought the downfall of the dwarves.

So far, the show just keeps looking more and more fantastic, and I can’t wait for all of it to come together when the series finally premieres. Catch The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power when it comes to Amazon Prime Video on Sept. 2.
