David Harbour is No Saint Nick in Trailer for Violent Night

David Harbour has played several red protectors on the big screen from Hellboy to Red Guardian in Black Widow, and now he’s taking on another big bruiser in red.

Watch Harbour’s violent take on Santa Claus in the first trailer for Violent Night:

Here’s the official description:

When a team of mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage, the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus (David Harbour, Black Widow, Stranger Things series) is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.

The movie comes from 87North, the same producers behind films like John Wick, Atomic Blonde, and the recent Bullet Train; so we already have an idea of what kind of film we’re going to be getting into. Though we should already expect Santa to just go around kicking ass, I think the film is also going to make it a point that Santa is still magical, and he has all kinds of tricks up his sleeve to take on these Christmas terrorists like a more fantastical version of Die Hard.

Ever since Hellboy, I think Harbour has made it pretty clear that he’s also quite capable of being an action star. Though his Hopper character in Stranger Things was more of an everyday cop in the earlier seasons of the show, the last season has also proven that Harbour can hold himself pretty well in action scenes. Now have him play Santa, and you have one wild concept for a movie.

Violent Night comes to theaters on Dec. 2.
