DC’s Blue Beetle has Wrapped Filming

We don’t know what DC plans to do with properties like Superman in the future, but we are getting more obscure heroes like Black Adam, and the upcoming Blue Beetle.

Months ago some set photos have given us a look at Xolo Mariduena in his superhero costume, and now we have news that the movie has officially wrapped production.

ScreenRant also points out that several crew members have revealed that production has wrapped via IG stories, so it’s only a matter of time before the main stars reveal that the movie is already entering its post-production phase.

While there have been several incarnations of Blue Beetle in the past, the movie will be adapting the story of Jaime Reyes, who is granted powers via an alien suit—kind of like an extra-terrestrial Iron Man.

It’s unclear what kind of tone the movie is going to go for, but with the way the Marvel films have started feeling more uniform, it’s very likely that Blue Beetle will veer closer to Shazam! territory rathr than Joker. Besides, you don’t cast this generation’s Karate Kid and not have him be in a film that appeals to younger audiences.

I’m just crossing my fingers that we get some kind of hint for Booster Gold. Before the movie was even greenlit, word was going around that WB was working on a Blue Beetle/Booster Gold buddy comedy. We never got an update on BG, but I’m still crossing my fingers they find a way to bring him into live-action.

Blue Beetle is set to hit theaters on Aug. 18.
